Girl Scout Program

The Girl Scout program is an informal educational program designed to help girls put into practice the fundamental principles of the Girl Scout Movement as set forth in the Preamble. It is carried out in small groups with adult leadership and provides a wide range of activities of activities developed around the interests and needs of girls.

Program Goals
The Four Program Goals:
Four program goals serve as the foundation for all the materials, activities, and initiatives that are developed under the auspices of Girl Scouting. They are as follows:

Developing self-potential
  • Learning new skills
  • Exploring a variety of challenges
  • Accepting and appreciating differences
  • Expressing feelings
  • Participating in activities that offer a wide range of choices and a wide variety of roles.
  • Realizing one's uniqueness
Relating to others
  • Planning and participating in activities with people outside the troop
  • Doing activities that help girls to cope with problems and rewards of diversity within the troop
  • Participating in inter-troop activities
  • Exploring leadership opportunities
  • Sharpening communication skills
  • Understanding and resolving conflict
  • Using democratic ways of working together
Contributing to society
  • Meeting and working with a variety of people beyond the troop
  • Doing things for other people
  • Planning community projects
  • Experiencing their potential to contribute through understanding how their activity or project makes a difference
Developing values
  • Setting goals and priorities
  • Setting troop rules
  • Making troop decisions
  • Solving troop problems
  • Understanding why different things are important to different people
